Stephanie Denson

Steph Denson graduated from St. Edward's University in May 2008 with a B.A. in Theatre Arts. She just finished performing in the latest incarnation of her one-woman show, 57 Boyfriends, a DA!-produced entry for FronteraFest 2009 which advanced to Best of the Fest. She also had the pleasure of performing in DA!'s Relative Space at HPT last December.

Stephanie was seen at St. Edward's Mary Moody Northen Theatre in several productions over the years, including Parade, Macbeth, Footloose, Much Ado About Nothing, The Stinky Cheese Man, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Full Circle, and On the Town. Stephanie is a versatile actress, as evidenced by her having been cast as a male, an Asian, and a lady with a banana pram.

Before moving to Austin, Ms. Denson performed in Corpus Christi in shows such as Auntie Mame, M*A*S*H, Bye-Bye, Birdie, Bang Bang, You're Dead, And They Dance Real Slow in Jackson, and The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds. She has also had the pleasure of working as the Marketing Director for Summer Stock Austin for two summers and as a resident coordinator, instructor, and counselor for Texas Arts Project camp for three summers.

Steph is currently living the dream: working at two restaurants, acting, and writing all at the same time.

PROJECTS

57 Boyfriends
Steph's semi-autobiographical one-woman show was a big hit at the Frontera Fest 2009 Short Fringe, making it all the way to Best of the Fest! Co-directed by Kirk German and Heather Huggins, Steph's performance, which featured two of her journals, a bottle of wine, and a trunk full of junk, was hailed for its "unflinching honesty" and "courage." One night, she even performed through a torrential downpour and a black-out! We're proud to say that 57 Boyfriends was sassy, irreverent, and thought-provoking, just like Steph herself!

Just Say DA!!
Since Steph wasn't yet a DA! member when we debuted Direct Object last winter, she is now finally discovering the joys of "Object Playtime" as we move towards mounting our full-length production for next year. Although she started out by "dating" a newspaper (following the legacy of Robin Grace Thompson), she's started to show interest in a certain storage trunk (her co-star from 57 Boyfriends)...
