In the midst of rehearsing for Just Say DA!: Direct Object, Steph talks about her relationship with objects over the years…
I’ve loved some and I’ve left some. I’m particularly fond of scarves, books, popcorn kernels, hair combs, lipstick tubes, and crayons.
Newest company member Steph Denson tells us the whole truth and nothing but the truth about our resident designer, Jamie Rhodes
What super power does Jamie already have?
The ability to calm you… in a super way.
What is her slogan?
“Do you want to play with Justin?”
What is her codename?
That’s what lots of people said, including Jamie herself! Who do you think Jamie may have been in another life?
Michael Jordan, for sure.
Of what is Jamie a champion?
She is a champion ghost remover!
What is her spirit animal?
If she were an object, what would she be?
What else can you tell us about Jamie?
…she can be known to giggle incessantly!
Lots of people said that, too. Thanks, Steph.

Steph's semi-autobiographical one-woman show was a big hit at the Frontera Fest 2009 Short Fringe, making it all the way to Best of the Fest! Co-directed by Kirk German and Heather Huggins, Steph's performance, which featured two of her journals, a bottle of wine, and a trunk full of junk, was hailed for its "unflinching honesty" and "courage." One night, she even performed through a torrential downpour and a black-out! We're proud to say that 57 Boyfriends was sassy, irreverent, and thought-provoking, just like Steph herself!
Just Say DA!!
Since Steph wasn't yet a DA! member when we debuted Direct Object last winter, she is now finally discovering the joys of "Object Playtime" as we move towards mounting our full-length production for next year. Although she started out by "dating" a newspaper (following the legacy of Robin Grace Thompson), she's started to show interest in a certain storage trunk (her co-star from 57 Boyfriends)...
graduated from St. Edward's University in May 2008 with a B.A. in Theatre Arts. She just finished performing in the latest incarnation of her one-woman show, 57 Boyfriends, a DA!-produced entry for FronteraFest 2009 which advanced to Best of the Fest. She also had the pleasure of performing in DA!'s Relative Space at HPT last December. . ...read more
