Robin Grace Thompson

Robin Grace Thompson graduated from St. Edward's University in the winter of 2004 with a BA in theatre. During Robin's time at St. Edward's, she explored the wonder and joy that is artistic process! Working with members of the SITI Company and other inspiring faculty and staff, Robin cultivated a passion for Suzuki, Viewpoints, new play development, movement, composition work, and ensemble-building. Favorite university credits (and processes!) at St. Ed's included Juliet in Romeo and Juliet (Payne Nomination), Antoinette in A Flea in Her Ear, Texan in c/o the Grove, and Myrrah and others in Metamorphoses.

After graduating, Ms. Thompson was accepted into the 2005-2006 Acting Apprentice Company at the Actors Theatre of Louisville in Kentucky.   Regional theatre credits while in Kentucky included Mercy Lewis in The Crucible, Drift in Neon Mirage at the 2006 Humana Festival, and the Madwoman in The Madwoman of Chaillot (Apprentice Performance).

Robin returned to Austin in 2006 and for two years served as the Company Manager/Administrative Coordinator of Mary Moody Northern Theatre at St. Edward's University. She also had the privilege of working with several artistic companies in town, including Austin Script Works (Hybrid, plus several readings and playwright development workshops), Shrewd Productions (Trash Anthems), and Salvage Vanguard Theatre (Voices Underwater), for which she earned an Austin Critics' Table Nomination.

She is a founding member of DA! Theatre Collective, performing 'Library Loon' in Just Say DA!: Direct Object and serving as Director of Education for our first year.

Robin has recently returned to Austin... to finally make it home and put down those ever growing, changing, and strengthening roots! She is honored, thrilled, overwhelmed, and blessed to call this amazing town her home! A heartfelt thanks to her artistic community for welcoming her back with open arms!

PROJECTS

She's Ba-ack!
Robin was vital as a founding member of DA!; she was our first Director of Education and was a constant font of great ideas and encouragement. Library Loon was a major highlight of Just Say DA!: Direct Object, leading to its placement as the show's opening etude. Robin relocated to Denver in September of 2008, and while her legacy remained very much at the heart of what we did as a Collective, we were pretty sad. But now, like a special magic gift, she's returned to us! And we just couldn't be happier! She's already doing so much, both for us and others!

Birds and Brooms
Time to start hoarding those back issues of The Austin Chronicle... The Bird Lady in "Library Loon" is taking flight once more! Along with the rest of DA!'s active company members (and some special guests), Robin is gearing up for the latest edition of Direct Object! Not only are the newspapers returning, but Robin has been seen flying around the studio on her new object, GIBBY THE BROOM! ("...What?"...) You'll have to see to believe...

RGT does Chekhov!
This fall, Robin is excited to be working with The Breaking String Theatre Company on their production of The Cherry Orchard, in which she'll be playing Anya. More details about performance dates and times coming soon!

Bunnies in the Spring!
Robin is thrilled beyond measure to be performing in A Brief Narrative of an Extraordinary Birth of Rabbits, written by Austin's one and only C. Denby Swanson and directed by the extremely talented Jenny Larson! The show opens on February 11th and runs through March 6th at SVT!
