DA! believes that art is a form of communication. It is a way to explore within us and around us. Therefore we strive to bring you work that is insightful to the human condition and our community.

DA! believes that listening to our community while simultaneously engaging and challenging its members will engender compelling performances and high-quality productions. This is why each project is born out of a collective impulse. As with any creative endeavor, this collective impulse is supported by a period of exploration. Genuine moments on the stage require hours of exploration, uncovering layers of detail. This is true whether one is working with an existing script or creating from scratch.

We employ every resource imaginable to assist in exploring the outer and inner edges of a concept: groundbreaking workshops, master classes, intensive weekend retreats, and year-round training independent of the production schedule.

DA!’s creative process is profoundly simple. We continue to explore until we have created something we believe you should see.

As a result, every production process is unique and unconventional for modern American theatre. We may rehearse for 3 months, and then take a break to allow our ideas to germinate. Then we’ll return for another 2. Take a break for another 3. Finally, we know we are ready to enter into production.

All the while, we continue to meet for training and research workshops in our ongoing effort to strengthen our ensemble and our role in the community. All the while, we continue to live up to our name and just say DA!.
