- Kennedy Center goes ON LOCATION with DA!
-
Hill Country Middle School was recently selected as one of ten schools in the United States to participate in On Location: Spotlight On Your Community, a Kennedy Center program designed to allow students the opportunity to produce a documentary telling the story of an arts organization or artist in their community. Guess who their subject is? Da da da, you guessed right-- it's DA!, and we are honored and excited beyond words! Thanks, HCMS! Learn more about this incredible program HERE!

The hit 1950s-sit-com-gone-wrong that rocked Frontera Fest in 2003 came back, lengthened into three side-splitting episodes, er, acts! Leaving audiences craving the good ol' days of Nick-at-Nite (but with a twist), this extravaganza explored gender roles, consumerism, and the elusive mystery of Tupperware Parties for three weeks in November at the Off Center! In the meantime, we were swamped with rave reviews, did a fundraiser for GRRL Action, and made Jacob an official member of the Collective!

According to the Austin Chronicle, "DA! stands out not only for its integration of intensive disciplines, its creations of new works, and adaptations of folk classics (Heron & Crane) alike, but also for its forward-thinking ways. Just two of the many examples DA! sets for other troupes: It donates one of its children's performances to a Title 1 school for every paid performance and compensates its actors competitively, with the long-term goal of paying a living wage. Keep it up, DA!" Thanks, Critics! We're tickled pink!)
